If you want to de-chrome your PX, we’ve got everything you need to make a professional job of it.
When it comes to chrome there are two schools of thought, the more bling the better or chrome don’t get you home. If you fall into the second group and are looking to de clutter your PX, we’ve got you covered.
Floor runners
A very recent addition to our stock is this floor runner kit. Finished in a durable semi-gloss black, this kit contains everything you need to replace your tired runners (apart from rivets) . Pre-drilled for convenience they’re also easy to fit. We’ve only had these in stock a few weeks, but they’re already a popular seller.
Badges
It’s often the small details that count, and badges are an inexpensive way to show that you’re paying attention. For the legshields we’ve got badges in gunmetal or matt finishes with the same gunmetal and matt options for the side panel. Either side of the year 2000, most PX models were fitted with ‘chunky’ metal badges that were fixed using securing plates. Our self-adhesive badges are cut to the original size so, with careful positioning, they’ll cover up the factory drilled pin holes.
Legshield trim
Legshield edges get a pretty raw deal, even in the most careful hands they get scratched and scraped, which can look awful on chrome finishes. If you want to replace yours with something a little more resilient, we’ve got a choice of black trim from FA Italia and RMS .
We know that replacing trim is seen as a painful job, but Martin Daley’s an old hand at this. If you want to see how it’s done, we made this video a while ago.
Indicators
We’ve a wide range of options for indicators, but please note that the indicators we supply use different bulbs. Chrome cases use orange bulbs and clear lens whilst black cases use clear bulbs and orange lens. (Pins are offset differently).
Possibly the best way to deal with the chrome on indicators is to give them a sand, apply some primer and a gentle top coat with a rattle can. Just remember to mask off the reflective surfaces!
We’d also suggest finishing this off with some smoked lens or protective grilles.
Rear light
Fortunately, rear lights are interchangeable across the PX range, and our favourite trick for de-chroming at the rear is to use an EFL unit. The black surround looks cool and the light itself is more streamlined than those fitted to the later MY units. If you prefer the look of the MY, once again it’s possible to sand and spray before adding a smoked lens. If you take that option, don't forget to buy the red bulbs needed to make it street legal.
Accessories
If you really want to make a statement, don’t forget to make the most of our black accessories. These range from the classic headlight grill, to front racks, crashbars and rims. For other suggestions just use our search box and type in PX black, you’ll be surprised how many options there are.
